About José Miguel Marina
José Miguel Marina
Attorney at Law
José Miguel Marina is the founder of Marina Global Mobility, a business immigration practice in Washington, D.C. He has spent his career on both sides of the visa process: first as a U.S. consular officer adjudicating visa applications, and since then as counsel to the companies and people filing them.
As a consular officer in Monterrey, Mexico and Bogotá, Colombia, he adjudicated more than 50,000 visa applications. That vantage point shapes every case the firm takes on. He knows how an adjudicator reads a petition, and what separates a case that clears review from one that does not.
In private practice he has represented employers and individuals across the business immigration categories, from nonimmigrant petitions through employment-based permanent residence, and has led teams of attorneys and paralegals doing that work.
Marina Global Mobility brings the two careers together: petitions written for the officer who will read them, and consular strategy informed by years making the final adjudication decision. Clients work directly with José from the first conversation through filing, decision, and the visa interview.
José is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and New York University, a member of the District of Columbia and Arizona bars, and fluent in Spanish. He works with clients across the United States and worldwide.
